In this experiential session, Second City Works will introduce you to an “improv mindset” as it relates to developing and retaining high performing talent. You will experience Second City Works’ playful practice approach to skill-building that gets professional learning and people up on their feet. Participate in exercises that will help leaders build inclusive teams, foster collaboration, and promote agility in order to create supportive environments that encourage intelligent risks and propel personal and professional growth.

About Tamara Nolte

Tamara Nolte has worked in various capacities for The Second City since 2007. In addition to her work with The Second City she has more than 20 years experience in educational administration, small business management, and start-ups. She’s managed large and small teams, served as the director of an international franchise company, developed one-of-a-kind interactive multi-media instructional design experiences, and built two start-ups from the ground-up. In 2012 Tamara earned her MBA from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management. Her performance credits include short-form improv for ComedySportz, hip-hop improv with The Beatbox and sketch comedy with Johnny’s Regret. She is also the Creator/Producer of Tamara’s Caption Contest, and Nun On Pun Off on-line and live game show harnessing the power of the pun.

About Kate James

Kate James is a New York based comedy writer and improviser. She’s written, performed and taught for various divisions of The Second City for the past 10 years. She is a founding member of the sketch comedy group Schadenfreude, who enjoyed a two-year stint on Chicago Public Radio, performs with the all female improv group Virgin Daiquiri at iO Chicago, and created a viral video where she plays a very drunk Cubs fan. Kate travels the world teaching improvisation and communication skills for Second City Works – a division of the famed comedy theatre. She has appeared on the TV shows Easy (Netflix), Playing House (USA), and Shameless (Showtime). Kate is a regular comedy contributor to the Slate podcast Trumpcast and plays Tricia on the cult-hit podcast Hello From The Magic Tavern.
